A Day in the Life of an Artist

Working as an artist is something wonderful that you do mostly because you are driven by passion. The goal of an artist to project whatever is on their mind through art such as drawing, sculpture, 3D modeling and other mixed media. Some people enjoy arts to the point of wanting to teach it to other people. Nowadays, there are numerous artists that uses the vast variety of skills they have to create commercial projects. That is why there is a huge number of freelance artists in this modern society. But sometimes it can hard to produce art since you aren't doing it because you had an idea, but because you need the money from it. I for instance, I have been studying arts for as long as I remember.

Paying Your Dues

There is a variety of school with a large history behind them for students that wish to pursue they're studies in art. There is also a vast variety of artists that never had the opportunity to see the light and died without any recognition. This is why formal education as been added to school programs, so students could improve through a young age. In the market place, there is a wide span of jobs you could find as an artist and that is why there are so many  renowned programs you can apply to such as graphic design, painting, animation or even art history. Cities such as San Francisco and New York are also well-known for having many art galleries that could end up being the perfect place for an artist to have his work shown. Plus, Montreal is a growing place for those interested in working in the movie and video game industry.

Present and Future

Art as been present in the history if humankind as far back as the 30 000 BC. It has evolved throughout time and the role it as hasn't been much different either. We do know that the influence of an artist comes from his surrounding, but we have no clue if it is the same for the future.

Quality of Life

PRESENT AND FUTURE
Most artists tend to develop their own art style during the first years and try to get new connections. They earn little to no income when they start and have to face harsh prejudices towards the work they do. As for now, I work in a video game company called Behaviour interactive, as one of the main concepts artists.

FIVE YEARS OUT

Those that received good reviews and criticism have now access to different sponsors. They are progressing their crafts and have found a decent salary to pay rent. By that time, I will probably have done a few projects that could end up giving me a better job.

TEN YEARS OUT
There are no fixed timelines of how an artist should progress through time. After feeling frustration and joy throughout their journey, some will receive an excellent reputation. On the other side, those that haven't received much positive encouragement will have to keep working hard. Those with good academics and with a vast amount of connections will strive to progress even further. As an artist, there is always room to progress and timing doesn't mean anything. I sincerely hope that I reach my goal of creating my own comic, by that time.
